Campus Security
The Lamar State College Orange security department can be reached at 409.670.0789. The 24/7 emergency number answered by Orange Police Department dispatch is 409.883.1026. Campus security officers have enforcement authority on property owned and controlled by the College. The streets contiguous to and running through the campus are under the authority of the Orange Police Department. Campus security officers are authorized by state statute to enforce federal and state laws within their jurisdiction, in addition to rules and regulations issued by the Board of Regents of LSCO. Security guards patrol all LSCO campus facilities. They patrol on foot or in golf carts marked with SECURITY. LSCO officers are available to provide escort service to anyone whom may be concerned with their safety. LSCO officers enjoy a good working relationship with federal, state, local, city, and county law enforcement authorities. The Security Department’s working relationship with other area law enforcement agencies ensures that crimes and violations at nearby campus sites may be reported to LSCO officers and, if further assistance is needed, at on-campus locations. Lamar State College Orange and the City of Orange Police Department have a memoranda of understanding for the investigation of alleged criminal offenses on and near campus. Both entities recognize the importance of having effective communication and coordination regarding alleged criminal offenses, including but not limited to, allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking that involve the College’s students or take place on and around the LSCO’s campus.
BlackboardConnect Emergency Alert Messaging System
Lamar State College Orange utilizes the communications system, BlackboardConnect, which allows the delivery of time-sensitive emergency notification via voice messages, e-mails and text messages in the event of a campus emergency. The BlackboardConnect service provides a safer environment, enhances emergency preparedness and will keep students, faculty and staff better informed. LSCO will use this service solely for the purpose of notifying the campus community of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of faculty, staff, or students.
Public Relations and Development
The Office of Public Relations and Development informs the campus and surrounding community of important news, events, and opportunities available to students and the public. The office manages the College’s relations with traditional media including newspapers, radio stations, and television stations. The office also manages, maintains, and regularly updates information distributed through social media outlets including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The office issues press releases, news articles, and dispatches covering educational programs, social events open to the public, activities sponsored by campus groups, and student success stories. It also publicizes campus closures and special hours of operations during holidays and/or emergencies.
Print and Design Services
Print and Design Services produces syllabi, testing materials, study guides, handouts, and other instructional material by order for faculty use in their courses. It also produces LSCO course schedules, catalogs, diplomas, graduation programs, brochures, flyers, and promotional materials for courses and programs. All other print media, including special orders and graphics design for use on campus as well as the community, are produced on site, in a state-of-the-art digital and multi-media design environment
Services are available by order for student use in printing course materials from Open Educational Resources. Fees for these services are assessed as a price per printed page unless the instructor orders prepared course packs to be sold through the LSCO Bookstore. Walk-up copier use is available for faculty and staff. Copier service is available to students in the library. All leased printing and copying equipment is maintained by Print and Design Services personnel, who also program and disseminate copy codes for individual LSCO departments and service units.
Alumni Association
Lamar State College Orange is proud of the many individuals who have taken advantage of the educational opportunities that we have been providing since 1969. Some of you will graduate with certificates and/or degrees while others will start your college careers at LSCO before finishing at a senior institution. Some of you will take specific courses that give you the knowledge and skills needed to start or improve your career. Regardless of your motivation, once you attend Lamar State College Orange you become part of our campus Gator family.
As a member of the Gator family, we want to keep you informed about campus events and activities and give you a chance to stay in touch. Alumni Association dues are $35 annually and provide members with campus information, access to a range of services and college-sponsored events, and help fund scholarships for our students.
