Process Technology Certificate of Completion

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Degrees, Certificates, and Institutional Awards

Students who complete the Process Operating Technology degree and certificate are exposed to high quality and relevant curriculum endorsed by the North American Process Technology Alliance (NAPTA). Through a partnership of industry, educational institutions, and others, the NAPTA supports the development of a diverse, qualified Process Technology talent pool to meet workforce needs in North America and South East Texas.

Upon completing the capstone course, PTAC 2446 , students will demonstrate their mastery in applied process technology knowledge and skills by taking the Process Technology Chemical/Refining Exam (PTEX-CR). This exam is widely used among colleges as a standard for applied process technology knowledge. Students will have access to complete the PTEX-CR at the LSCO testing center near the end of the semester in which they are completing the capstone course, PTAC 2446 . The cost of the exam is paid by students’ lab fees so students will not be required to pay out of their pocket in order to test.

More detailed information about the PTEX-CR can be found here - https://www.naptaonline.org/learning-resources/ptex.

This program prepares students for careers in an entry-level process operations position. It prepares students to become safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operators in the petrochemical and oil refinery industries. The program works closely with the Gulf Coast Process Technology Alliance-based organization that establishes standards to provide and deliver quality curriculum in the field.
