This program prepares individuals for careers as a property, real estate, or community association managers. As business professionals, supervisors, managers or small business owners. A sales agent is a person who is licensed by the Real Estate Commission to act as an agent on behalf of a real estate broker and their clients. A sales agent must be sponsored by a licensed Broker in order to perform any act of real estate services.

The curriculum is designed for students who want to take the business and technical courses necessary to enter the workforce and begin careers with the option to take the general academic courses associated with a four-year Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree at a later time.

Qualifications to become a Real Estate Sales Agent in Texas:

  • Citizen of the United States or lawfully admitted alien; A DACA recipient does not qualify as a lawfully admitted alien
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Meet Texas Real Estate Commission’s (TREC’s) qualifications for honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity.
  • Consider requesting a Fitness Determination before applying for the license.

Students have one year from the date your application is filed with TREC to meet all the license requirements.
