This degree is recommended for students who plan to pursue Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degrees in criminal justice or for students seeking employment in law enforcement or criminal justice fields. This is a recommended curriculum only. Some courses may be taken in different order, and students do not have to complete the degree in four semesters. Students in remediation will require a different course sequence.
Courses within the LSCO Criminal Justice Certificate are applied to the LSCO Criminal Justice AS Degree.
Law Enforcement Articulated Credit Option:
A student may receive 12 semester credit hours for successfully completing an approved law enforcement training program/ Basic Police Academy and passing the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) exam after 1983. To receive credit, a student must have completed 3 semester credit hours with Lamar State College Orange, present proof that he/she has passed the Texas Basic Peace Officer Licensing Examination, complete and submit a course credit form, and pay the processing fee.
